Origin Story
At Champions Benchmark, we are driven by a deep commitment to empower individuals and families facing adversity and challenges. Our journey began with a vision to bridge the gap between resources and those in need, particularly in underserved communities. With over 20 years of experience in community service, program development, and the healthcare system, we recognized the critical need for accessible support systems and resources. The realization of the disconnect between available programs and those who could benefit from them inspired us to create a platform for change.

Who We Serve & What We Do
Champions Benchmark is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering at-risk youth and families in Rockford and throughout Winnebago County. Our programs focus on support, accountability, and personal growth through structured, evidence-based services designed to build stability and long-term success.
Programming Areas
• Anger Management & Responsible Thinking and Self-Control – Helping individuals develop better emotional regulation and decision-making skills.
• Strengthening Families Parenting Classes – Supporting parents in building strong, healthy family dynamics.
• Mentoring & Educational Support – Providing guidance for youth, including IEP advocacy for students with learning needs and intervention for school suspensions or expulsions.
• Housing & Shelter Resources – Assisting individuals and families facing eviction, homelessness, or housing instability by connecting them to the right support systems.
Our goal is to provide structured, evidence-based programs that promote personal growth, family stability, and positive behavioral changes.

Background in Industry
Champions Benchmark Founder & CEO Demetrius Champion brings extensive experience supporting youth, families, and returning citizens through case management, life skills instruction, anger management groups, mentoring, and family support workshops. With more than a decade of hands-on leadership working across community programs, educational settings, and social service systems, Demetrius is committed to strengthening families, reducing crisis involvement, and expanding access to opportunity.
Through collaboration with local organizations, schools, and faith-based and community partners, Champions Benchmark has built a trusted reputation for service, advocacy, and resource coordination. Our mission is to support individuals who are often overlooked or underserved, helping residents overcome barriers, build long-term stability, and thrive.
